🏗️ CPCS A62 - Crane/Lifting Operations Supervisor

This course is designed for individuals who are responsible for supervising lifting operations using cranes and other lifting equipment.

  • Site supervisors or managers involved in lifting operations

  • People looking to gain a CPCS Blue Card (Competent Operator Card) or Red Card (Trained Operator Card) in lifting operations

    • LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations)

    • PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations)

    • Health & Safety at Work Act

  2. Roles and Responsibilities

    • Appointed person

    • Lift supervisor

    • Slinger/signaller

    • Crane operator

  3. Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS)

  4. Safe Systems of Work for Lifting Operations

  5. Communications and Signalling Methods

  6. Types of Cranes and Lifting Equipment

  7. Planning and Supervising Lifts


🕒 Duration

  • Typically 4–5 days depending on experience level


📜 Assessment

  • Theory test (multiple choice or written)

  • Practical assessment

  • CPCS technical test (to qualify for the Red Card)


🎯 Outcome

  • Successful candidates receive a CPCS A62 Trained Operator Red Card

  • You can then work toward the Blue Card via an NVQ in Plant Operations (Lifting Operations)
